Nea Skioni Kassandra

Nea Skioni is located at the southwestern tip of the Kassandra peninsula at a distance of about 110 km from Thessaloniki. A traditional Greek village, built in a magnificent landscape of rare natural beauty, where the visitor has the opportunity to combine both swimming and walking in the pine forest.

According to Thucydides, Skioni was built by the Greeks from the Peloponnese on their return from the Trojan War. Later the Athenians brought the Platanians to live here. The mountain village of Tsaprani is the forerunner of today's village of Skioni. The inhabitants of Tsaprani gradually inhabited the sea area during the second decade of our century. From the old village of Tsaprani, today we have the Church of the Holy Trinity, which is celebrated with an impressive presence and devotion to tradition every year. Apart from the impressive natural beauty of this village, it is worth visiting the Church of Panagia Faneromeni.

The church is built at a distance of 2 km from the village, decorated with frescoes, dating from the 16th century. In 1881, this church was transferred from the monastery of Flamourios in Thessaly to the Patriarchate and it celebrates every year on the 23rd of August with excessive responsibility and the presence of a large number of people.

The port of the village is one of the largest on the peninsula, where many fishing boats anchor here from the Gulf of Thermaikos, and even from the Northern Sporades.

A walk in the port will definitely end with a nice meal in one of the fishing villages of the village, undoubtedly a tempting proposal for every visitor.

In Nea Skioni there are many hotel units and rooms for rent, taverns with fresh fish, shops with all kinds of souvenirs, supermarkets etc.

A unique place to enjoy leisure and relaxation holidays.
